Pete is a qualified Associate Actuary and Chartered Manager with almost 20 years’ experience working within financial services. Pete has a broad wealth of experience, particularly in the Pensions and FinTech sector, and has worked for Equiniti, KPMG and FinTech company EV (EValue). Pete joined Star from industry in 2022 and uses his wealth of actuarial knowledge as one of our key Pensions and Investment sector specilaists.

Biography

Pete graduated from Cardiff University with a 2:1 in Mathematics and its Applications. After a brief spell at Legal & General, Pete joined Hazell Carr (now Equiniti) on their Graduate programme, working in a variety of roles before settling into the Pensions Actuarial department. He predominantly worked alongside the Scheme Actuaries to assist with trustee based tasks, such as scheme triennial valuations.

After a few years with Hazell Carr, Pete moved to KPMG to work in Tax & Pensions. Here he gained experience on both the Corporate and Trustee sides, working in many new areas, such as risk reduction exercises and PPF Levy investigations.

Pete then took a year away from the ‘day job’ to support his wife with starting a business and to share the childcare of their first child. From there he worked as a contractor for a couple of years for Equiniti. It was during this period that Pete qualified as an Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

With FinTech becoming a new and exciting area to work in, Pete took the opportunity to join EV to work on their stochastic financial and lifetime planning tools. There he ran large client projects (for high street banks, building societies, employee benefit consultancies and many others) and was responsible for the delivery, accuracy and validity of the results of the tools.

Pete joins Star Actuarial with a real desire to help clients and candidates. With considerable hands-on industry experience, he hopes to use this knowledge to assist and add value to all areas of the recruitment process.
